The Friends of the Maryland State Archives is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. They work to help people learn about Maryland's rich history by:
- Collecting and protecting important documents, artifacts, and artwork from Maryland's past
- Funding and publishing scholarly works relating to Maryland's history and culture
- Teaching students and teachers about Maryland's past through educational programs
- Sponsoring events that celebrate Maryland's history and support the goals of the Maryland State Archives
